What is PacketMole?

PacketMole is a two-device hardware set — $349 one-time, free US shipping— that lets you keep your home IP address when you travel. A fanless GL.iNet Brume 2 stays plugged in at your home router. A pocketable GL.iNet Beryl AX travels with you. They're bound by an encrypted Tailscale tunnel, so your laptop, phone, and tablet on the road appear to be at home. No monthly subscription. No account with us.It's the modern hardware alternative to KeepYourHomeIP, designed to work on the CGNAT-based connections (T-Mobile Home Internet, Starlink, cellular hotspots, and many apartment networks) where direct-inbound WireGuard setups can fail without extra network configuration.

The reason VPN apps don't cut it

Designed for connections
VPN apps quietly fail on.

T-Mobile Home Internet. Starlink. Cellular hotspots. Most apartment WiFi. These commonly put you behind CGNAT — carrier-grade NAT — which prevents the direct inbound connection many self-hosted WireGuard setups expect.

Tailscale can relay around that barrier.

PacketMole uses Tailscale, which can fall back to its DERP relay network when a direct path is unavailable. Actual connectivity still depends on both internet connections and the local network allowing Tailscale traffic.

When the tunnel is connected and selected, internet traffic through the Away unit exits from your home connection. Services that use IP address see that home IP; they may still use GPS, device, account, or other signals.

To be clear, PacketMole isn't a privacy VPN — it makes you look like home, not anonymous, and your traffic still exits through your own home internet. How they differ →

$349 one-time

No monthly fee, no annual fee — you own the hardware outright. KeepYourHomeIP adds about $112/year at our dated USD snapshot, and a paid VPN subscription bills you every month; PacketMole is one price, paid once.

We never see your traffic. We don't host your tunnel. It's your home network and your devices — we just sell the hardware that connects them.
